as i just said in my subject name "do japanese ps2s connect to us tvs and work" i already have a japnese game put it doent work on the us ps2s

You have just discovered the problem of region codes.
Different areas of the world are broken into regions for DVD's & Game systems. This helps companies follow world sales records etc...

As long as the Japanese system is NTSC video format and not PAL (it will say on the serial# sticker on the bottom), it will be playable on your TV, but only your Japanese games. North American games will not play because of the built in region code, telling the machine that it's not compatible.
This is one reason for all the Mod Chips you likely read about all over the forum. The chip, and some boot disks, trick the machine into playing games with the wrong code.

I have a Japanese PS2 and it works fine here in NA.

It is chipped, so it plays any regions or format of game. An unchipped Jap PS2 would not play NA games.
