i thought chipping ur ps2 halfs ps2 laser systems life!!
so isnt swap magic the same and what bad effect does swap magic have on ps2?

If you use good media for your backups (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell, TDK or Philips), it won't put any undue stress on the laser. People run into problems when they try pinching a penny with Imation or Memorex.

so if i rip the game using DVD Decrypter then do i have to rebuild the iso all over again to make it work or follow the instructions from one of the threads here and just rip iso to hard drive using DVD Decrypter burn the iso straightaway?

Depends on a couple things.

If using a "good" mod chip, you won't have to rebuild it; however, with Swap Magic, there are some games that you will need to rebuild. There are also some games that need to be patched in order to work.

Try doing a search for the game that you want to backup to see if it needs to be rebuilt.
