Anyone know how to solve this problem? its only happened to me for the past few days, my backups i made a long time ago worked fine a few months ago but now when i play them (ussualy about after 30 mins of play; when i boot up the ps2 game in the beginning its perfect) the loading times gradually worsen, any suggestions? btw i recently cleaned my ps2 laser that might of contributed to these loading times/

it could be the slider rails the laser unit rides on is not as lubricated as it once was and the laser is dragging as it tries to slid out as it reads the disk. it's worth checking, and if you used an optical disk for cleaning the laser while your in there do it again with a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol.

thanks for the reply. well i know cleaning the laser helped loading up the game in the beginning (i got cannot read disc error before) but i never got gradual loading/freezing times until after i cleaned my laser. so i think you could be right about the slider rails, do u have any clue where to lubericate it? and if u can wut kind of lubericate.

i use a lithium based grease myself (doesn't melt and fall off) and you put it on the two rods the laser unit rides back and forth on, you'll see the two extreme ends where the unit stops will have a build up of the original lubricant.

the drive motor/gears can be stripped by manually moving it.

only temporarily, and I'd not recommend it at all in the first place. any good quality grease would work.

well i tried fixing it by just exposing the laser and the rail slider, there was a bunch of black stuff on one side so i cleaned it off and the other side looked cleaned. i put very little grease on my sliders and i tested it and its even worse before. the loading times r slow and the gameplay somtimes stops for 20 seconds then starts again. should i put more grease on or did i do somthing terribly wrong

if you cleaned (removed old lubercation) the rails and then applied minimal lube back, you most likely made it worse to drag.
