OK I have a used PS2... like a model 1 I believe (it actually works great aside from this.)

I have swap magic 2 and HDadvance.

The system runs real games fine, and the HDadvance works... Swap Magic doesn't... it won't even boot real games (so it's not a burning problem.)

In the instructions for swap magic I'm supposed to hold eject until the light turns orange... the tray opens but it doesn't... That isn't supposed to happen right? My PS2 isn't modded, isn't the system supposed to shut down or something if I eject the tray?

those directions are for a no solder modchip, which sounds like you don't have. To use swap magic, you need a way of opening the ps2 without it knowing. Your going to either need to make a slide card or make a fliptop.

Ahh thanks, the slide card worked... its unfortunate I lost my dvd swap magic disc though.
