USB Extreme with a External DVD player Q?

ok guys had a thought about USB Extreme, i was wondering could i fake a DVD disc through a USB DVD drive and get USB Extreme to read it as a HDD so i could possibly play backups. Ok also if i need to format the drive (DVD Disc) could i use WinHIIP or something like that to format the DVD-RW and then use WinHIIP again to add an ISO image. And if i cant do it with USB Extreme wat about HDAdvance 3.0 with an internal DVD rom?? Hope that got yas thinking and love to see the replies. Ok i hope all that made more sense than i do. Thanks in advance (3.0)
