What modchip do you have? I think most chips should have the option to disable it so you can play your originals online.

I just got my ps2 chipped a few weeks ago... I have an original network access disc. It passed all tests except for the DNAS test? What do I do? How do I get around DNAS?

Could you give the name of the chip? Try to disable the chip if you can.

Lol it's ok. Do you see another logo underneath the PlayStation 2 logo when you boot up a game? If you see Toxic, then you have a DMS4 Pro. If you see Matrix, then you have a Matrix Infinity. If you don't see any one of those, what do you have to do to play a backup? Like the steps you have to do, example: put in PS2 game and press reset.

Nothing comes up at all. I don't know what chip it is. I don't do anything... I just put the disc in and it starts.

Where did you get it from? you should ask your retailer what chip he/she put in. Or if you have a reciept it should say the chip name on it.

Hmmmm.... I bought it chipped. Under the PS2 it has a sticker.... that has the warranty on it. I'm not sure i might have to ring up.

Wait I just found a piece of paper that says "DUO 2 Chip" on it.... so that it probably the chip.

- The disc will then take 2-5 seconds to be recognized and then boot.

To boot another game when already playing a game.
- Press EJECT button.
- The current game would then pause and the tray would come out.
- Change to another PS2 game disc and tap RESET button once.
- The machine would reboot and then load your game.

PSX Games:

- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
- Insert PSX game in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off machine.
- Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button once the Blue LED light of the Eject button lights up.

DVD Movies:

- Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.

Disable Mode:

- Hold the RESET button until the "blue clouds" comes up on the TV.

as far as playing online, if you are using originl games then disabling the chip should be just fine, as you wouldn't need it to boot the game anyway.
Back ups online are a completely different subject.
From what i hear some sites can detect the chips, and se it as a cheat device and will ban you. Others have told me that there is
only a couple games like SoCom 3 that will do that.
So with originals, just to be safe, i say disable the chip when playing online.

thank you for that, now the only problem for me is disabling the chip; when i boot up the ps2 (without games) it goes to the original ps2 screen with 'browser' and 'system settings' but when i got to 'system settings' the mode suddely changes (instead of a list there are cubes up and down the left side); now i was just wondering if there would be a way of disabling the chip through menus; or by reseting the ps2 (i noticed that if i just reset my ps2 and go to the menu it would not read the back ups, but if i turn it off, put the game in and turn it back on, then it would) please advise me on this situation
thanks

So let me get this straight....To be able to play back ups online with a Modchip...U first have to boot the game then after the game load up disable the modchip and then proceed to normaly?

one more question.
To be able to play back ups online do you have to patch the DNAS to the back up game? or do u only patch it if u are using swap magic?

I don't get it... so i disable the chip? then setup network play using network disc and this should make it pass dnas test? then after that re enable the chip and patch online games. correct?

Correct. It should work if you do it in that order.

also, if you have a firewall, like from AOL, it will sometimes make the Network set up fail too.
But i would first try to get online without disabling the chip.
As someone wold me only 1 or 2 game sites will actually detect it.
Like Socom 3
If you are using an original disabling the chip will really have no effect
If you are using back ups then they will not load, so you would need swap magic and one other mod for your PS2 to play back ups online. You will also have to patch the game for online play.

Well it's the same general principal. You need to patch the backup's DNA ID's whether you're using Swap Magic or a modchip. Just follow the tutorial for Swap Magic, it's the same. Then you need to put your chip in "stealth" mode for online play. I know the Matrix Infinity has a stealth mode, I don't know about the Duo. It depends whether you have the Duo2SE or Duo2GT. I didn't see it listed in it's set of features. The only exception to this is you have a Crystal Chip, the CC automatically patches DNA's.

20. Q. What are DNA's?
A. Any game made after 2003 for the PS2 that is online playable contains one or more image files that has a "disk
DNA checker." The online game server checks your game disk to see if it's the real thing or not. Thus, you have to discover which .img file on the game disc has the checker file.

22. Q. Where can I find DNA ID's?

You need to patch the game's DNA ID in order to play your backup's online. For copyright purposes refer to your games as "backups", not "pirated."

To play your original games online, you need to disable your modchip. There is currently no way to play a backup of Socom 2 or 3 online, because of online server checks.
