Brand new from Bestbuy today, stupid cd wouldn't boot on my PS2. I got ripped?????

The ARMAX cd sometimes does have problems being read. The way i get it to work is by turning on the ps2, put in the cd and when it says "this is not an official disc", press the reset button - the ps2 will recheck the disc and 75% of the time, accept it as an official disc. If this doesn't work, you need to turn the main power off and repeat these steps.

If after 3 attempts, you're still getting nowhere - then your ps2 laser is wrecked and your other games probably will have trouble loading in the not so distant future!

Your laser gets wrecked if you've been using a slide tool when the cd is still spinning too often, if you've bashed the machine about or the ps2 is very old (normal wear and tear of the laser).

If none of these apply, have a look at the ARMAX disc - does it have a lot of sratches on the back (or a large defect possibly). If so, and you haven't dropped it after purchase (which could cause these scratches), take it back to the store and demand a replacement - production lines do get it wrong sometimes!
