I have 15 months old PS2 , may be V1 - V4 , it cant boot DVD game discs, CDR games are working fine , it was premodded and i dont know which mod chip is installed , i am plannig to install a hard drive,Installing the hard drive , HDloader etc. is not an issue , I just have a couple of question ,
#1 How would i install games on the PS2 if my laser isnt working properly , would i be able to install DVD games onto it
#2 How can i copy games from my PC hard drive to the PS2 hard drive, i have heard of hdl dumb and winhiip to do this task (is this method trouble free) i want to transfer images directly to ps2 from PC to PS2 hard drive using network adapter.
#3 is it better to use HDadvance or HDloader
#4 is it possible that may be my ps2 lens might not be good enough to read the DVD game discs properly but still would install the games (at slow speed coz its worn out)
I would be grateful to all those who offer me help !!!! PeAcE

If you are having trouble installing games you should use winhiip or hdl dumb to save your laser. Depends on which you think is better because hd loader is a cd and hd advance is a dvd. Yes it is more than likely your laser. Try cleaning it

I doubt its a v1-v4 (it would have to be 3 or 4 years old), but that doesn't matter. As bluejet said, use 1 of those programs to install games on your hard drive. The only drawback is that you have to put the hd in your computer, transfer the games, then put the hd back into your ps2.

you are right sly , i was wrong , i figured out that its v 5 or later probably v 7
i wanna know what is the transfer speed when using hdl dumb or winhiip to transfer games
