hello all. i have spent about 3 hours searching the archives with not much help. maybe i skipped over my section or something but i couldnt find my problem, exactly.
System V12 slimline

Mods- modbo 2.0 chip (i know tis a clone)

Symptoms- i insert any disc, DVD (all i have for ps2 games) cd (music)and same thing everytime. goes directly to browswer screen. i see memory card but no disc. says "reading discs...." but never brings up the game. i can hear it start over but never reads the disc.

Possible causes- after installing modchip kids ran through living room caught cables knocked ps2 off wall. ps2 still worked just had to disable chip (or red screen of death). i took ps2 apart again found one wire disconnected. reconnected wire and everything worked fine. played some global terror for about 3 hours no problem (on a burnt disc). next day played some more GC still no problems. next day started reading disc (or not). once again took apart ps2 found that the 5V wire for laser fix was also loose (musta missed that). reattched wire still problem. Now i already know what your gonna tell me. i have a burnt laser. well i had already figured that so purchased new laser. installed new laser and still the same problem. i ahve found lots of guides on how to adjust voltage and whatnot for older versions but not for V12+. but also all these guides tell you not to adjust unless im getting disc read error. those words never come up, just "disc reading....." and then starts over. anyone got a clue for me.

i decided to go over my internals one more time to make sure everything was good. all mod chip wires good. decided to check static point on new laser (happened to be out of de-soldering braid when i installed, but picked up some later that night.) sure enough static point had one little bead that i couldnt see with the naked eye. used the newly aquired braid and badaboom. ps2 working fine reads originals, backups, and cd music. sorry for the early post. but got it all under control. im sure ill cyas in the future.
