I've searched countless threads on this site and am still baffled. I have signed up to http://bittorent.com/ to realise that it is just a link to programmes such as limewire etc.. that are freeware. But have no idea what you need to download games and how you do it. If someone who is fully versed in dealing with this could help me i would be so grateful. It feels like i'm going around in circles here.

I've gone onto torrentspy bird7. Say for example i wanted to download Tiger Woods 06 for the PS2 i'd find the link and click download torrent. Then it downloads to the desktop and i open it up. It opens into a programme "BitTorrent T-0.3.14 (BitTornado)" download. But the download rate starts at 0kb/sec. Am i doing this right? Any help would be great

Yep, it sounds like it. Just look at your router, if it is showing activity, then it should eventually show progress. It would be a lot easier to buy it....

yeah the router isn't showing any activity. is there another thread on here that talks you through how to set up bittorrent? it does seem like a hell of a lot of hassle to get a game but loads of people do it so it can't be too tricky once you get the nak of it i guess?!?

You know, I am sick of you people downloading games illegally. Just buy the game. I am going to start to report this stuff to the police, or FBI. It is not only illegal, it is wrong.

Well I'd take that threat seriously, but I think the FBI has better things to do than raid a Finnish site. You're aware that a lot of AD's users are in the U.K. and Europe, and the site itself is based in Finland, right? So I don't think FBI has jurisdiction in Finland, at least not that I'm aware. I also notice that your profile page has 0 buddies and 0 people linking to it, it sounds like someone needs a friend. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case in the real world as well. Cheers!

just because you download games doent mean you have it illegally. i d/led GT4 but i own a copy i just didnt wanna fit it on a dvd 5, (1) i dont have time (6 month old daughter) and (2) i have a mac and i dont know of any software that will do it on a mac. Also how is it wrong? technically he's not hurting anyone believe me these games companys are getting there money. Jut think how long it takes for mod chip and swap disks to hit the market and also if its in a torrent or for d/l SOMEBODY PAID FOR IT.

If it's connectivity issues you are having, then check out this thread here, a lot of the time this could be why you're having slow speeds. - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/89259
But remember.. on public trackers, people tend to leech leech leech, and not contribute back, the way that BitTorrent should work ( that they contribute.. not leech ;) ). There are not as many complete seeds (people finished downloading, and have the complete copy and are fully distributing) as leechers (people still downloading the file/s) So, the seeders upload is getting sucked up by all these leechers and so there isn't enough upload speed for everyone to get a good download speed, if you see what I mean.
There are however, registered trackers, which have all the latest releases with friendly community's where in most cases much much much more seeders than leechers (newer files may take several hours/ a day to have more seeders than leechers due to popular demand) and you experience a much better download, much faster. However, it is nesscessary that you upload at least 0.8 of what you have downloaded otherwise you are given a week's warning to fix your ratio. If you do not heed this warning it's simple. You are banned. Due to popular demand of these trackers, most have reached the user limit, but accounts are deleted around every 10 minutes or so, so I reccomend you keep your password in the clipboard for fast registration ;)

Yes I agree whole heartedly. I've recently become involved with TL, and the download speeds are fantastic. I only have a 1.5MB DSL connection, so it's important for me to maximize my download potential. I've been getting an average of 120kB's/sec with TL! Before I was getting 20-30kB's/sec of public trackers. I've got four games waiting to burned, it used to take a couple days to a week to download a large game. Private trackers are the way to go.

Yes it's not usually the best idea to say you pirate games and tell everyone you will call it something else instead. Between that and the one eyed Gopher who looks like he may sexually assualt me at any second, I dunno what to tell you. What're you asking, if we can openly discuss piracy? Be a little more specific.

Most forums have introduced rules where piracy is not discussed. Of course there are forums in countries where it is not illegal to distribute copyrighted files without the owner's permission.
