make sure you use a low wattage soldering iron (i use 15w) as for the bios connections ensure that they are clean you may also need to apply some heat to the copper pins to remove any protective coating. (use a little bit of flux on all connections) i get a little bit of solder on the end of the wire to be soldered to the bios connections then solder to the bios pins. you may find a magnifying glass of help to you as they are very close together. it is recommended not to keep the soldering iron on the pins for more than 3 seconds as any longer can cause the bios plates to lift off the motherboard. also make sure that you do not have any solder bridging across the bios pins as this will cause the ps2 not to work. it is also handy to have a desoldering method (desolder braid or desoldering tool) to hand in case you do bridge across any pins. ALSO MAKE SURE YOU ARE GROUNDED to prevent any damage to the circuit board.

the connections in a PS2 are HUGE, your thinking otherwise shows you have little experience in the soldering industry :)

the right tools for the job make all the difference. i use a 24w iron myself set at 700* with a .035 size tip. the tip is also curved from the years of use which gives better viewing of the connection points. and when it comes to soldering the bios pins keep in mind the pins are already pre tinned, all you need to do is tin your wire and then bond the two, you don't need excessive solder anywhere.........

to get certified for solder repair on satellite components we were tested by finished weight of the project, the amount of solder included with most modchips i can use to install at least 50 chips.
