Hello everyone. I'm not sure if this is the place to post but I'm stuck in a tough situation and need some input. I have $1,000 saved up to buy a console. My options are either the 360 or the PS3 (when it's released). I'm more of a Playstation person but at the same time, hear alot of people routing for the 360. I'm pretty sure the PS3 with it's killer graphic and it's bad a$$ game will easily kill the 360. I'm not sure but heard the PS3 comes with wireless controllers (no more buying third party controllers) and supports all type of disc (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-/+R, etc...). Does this mean the end of modding and voiding the warranty on your Playstation? I'm not so much into a unit that can play/store music, movies, etc... but is more into the game. Plus that's what a computer's for anyways right? Well, help me decide. Give me some feedback. I want to know what every other gamers prefered console is and want to know once and for all if the PS3 really is better than the 360.

No, do you really think they would not put any copy protection on games? Which ever 1 you decide to get, I would wait a little bit so they can release a new version (xbox 360's have problems, and im sure the 1st version of the ps3 will have problems). I would also wait till the ps3 comes out, so you can decide which system has more games that you would like to play (xbox has halo, ps has final fantasy, etc.).

i agree with sly. wait until the systems have been out a while so they can get rid of the problems that they are bound to have & the price may drop a bit after a few months :-)
there is bound to be some copy protection on the ps3 (even harder than the ps2) but i am sure it will only be a matter of time before there is a solution to override the copy protection.
as for the games - i was told that the ps3 games take a lot longer to make than the 360 games now does that mean they are better? i assume they will be better games than the 360 or it could just be that the ps3 game devolepers sit round & drink more coffee lol!!!
My opinion - sit back & wait & see what you prefer & what system has more games that will interest you personally.

i agree with the above, wait a while.
I know how money can burn a hole in your pocket and all that.
But first run consoles tend to have bugs and glitches.
You want to wait until that is worked out on the second or even third
release so that you get your moneys worth.
As far as modding i have no idea. I have heard for some very good
modders that the 360 is going to take quite a bit of work as the changes they have made will make it extremely hard to make any
kind of modchip for. They say that a sofmod or swap disc is more
likely and that is only if someone can figure out how to get around certain checks that the new system has.
As far as the PS3, who knows until someone can get their hands on one. But i can tell you that if these systems start using Blu-Ray
discs, then we are all out of luck for a while. As then you would need a new burner, new discs, and a new program that could burn them.

the PS3 will use Blu-ray right? I know i dont have Blu-Rey disks let alone burners. so even if a mod chip came out the first day it would not be money smart. Existing Blu-ray drives cost $3000 or more and i think that just for readers. It may kill the 360 but atleast you have some chance of copying the games. just my .7 cent

Get a ps3. I'm getting one when it first comes out. I'm not waiting i'll just get a warranty with it. No problems there.

I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

Although I'm not all that techincal with the console itself, I know when a game is good and Metal Gear Solid is one of them. Part 4 is coming out for the PS3 along with Scarface. Personally, the Playstation's always had games that I'd rather play. I HAD an X-BOX and some of the games were ok, while others were straight crap. But I don't know, the 360 might change my perspective of the Playstaion's. Anyways, my question is if you guys had a choice, which would it be?

"just my .7 cent"
wow, the price of brain cells must have went up :) J/K
I was a solid PS2 guy for years, but i have to say that since getting my Xbox i really think it is an all around better system.
The only thing i did not like was that backing up games onto another
DVD is just way harder and more involved than with PS2.
But the Xbox being more like a PC than the PS2 just gives it a big edge in my book. Playing games movies and music strait from the HDD
is just great, plus no compatibility issues, they all work.
Being able to listen to internet radio, download things strait
to the HDD from the internet, tons of programs right in the HDD so no real need to put in a disc to do just about anything you want.
The Xbox is much more complicated to use and learn for sure.
But it just has too many features to be denied.
So over time i would say i will own both, but will not rush out to buy either right away.

O yes! The best console on the market is the one that you loves the best. Each console, Xbox....PS...etc...., has different 'taste' for each and everyone. A disadvantage on consoles is a must. Buy what you love and respect it. PEACE!

Well all of you guys have been most helpful. I think I'll have to save up another grand and probably purchase both system. Use it to see which one best fits me, then get rid of the other. I'm 95% confident that the PS3 will do the job. Thanks again everyone, for your input. I'll purchase both system. Later.
