Do V14 PS2's need a laser fix?

I've been trying to find an answer to this question for quite some time now and I get mixed answers all the time.
Does anyone know if the V14 have a "built-in" laser fix or do you need to install a fix similar to the one used on V12's?

the V12 is most susceptible to the coil over current problems from crashes but all the slims are at fault and when i mod them i always install a laser fix, i know other modders who do not but for the price why take the chance???

every site i checked (xmodds.com, teamodders.com, norcalmods.com) all say only v12 needs the laser fix. most modding sites only install a laser fix if you ps2 is v12.
