I just got my Network Adapter and installed it in my PS2. I'm a college student so my internet is just through the school's network. After registering the PS2 on the school's network I set up my network connection and tried Madden 2005 online. The DNAS verification past and then it when to connect to the EA servers. Everything slowed down there. Soon it said my connection had been lost and asked if I wanted to try to reconnect. I did this a few times but no connection to the server.

I have heard from people around campus that this could be caused by the University's router/firewall. Somehow the school's network ranks "requests" by programs for bandwidth. Programs like LimeWire and Kazaa are immediately moved to the Lowest Priority and thus they never establish a connection. I think this could be the problem. Any ideas on how to get around this??

My idea was using Internet Connection Sharing from my PC and linking the PS2 to the internet through that. I dont know much about ICS though, so I wasn't sure if that would cure my connection issue. Before I go out and buy a secondary ethernet port for my laptop I'd like to know. Thanks...and let me know if you have ANY ideas for how to get this working.

I suggest you hack there router, and change it to the settings. If you cant do that, try this:

Request a Port Fowarding on your Schools router technition. Make sure you foward the right ports. To know the right ports, search on Google or the official site of Playstation2.
Than Configure the PS2 network acess file to the settings of the router. If you dont know what they are. Talk to the technition. If it still doesn't connect properly, Double check the connections, try to play with it a bit and see which one works best. If all the possible connections dont work for you. Than i'm afraid your screwed.

For port forwarding do certain ports need to be opened for certain games or do the opened ports allow for most of the games to get online?? And also, would those ports just be open to me or all those on campus who wish to get their console online? I'm figuring if it's open to everyone they'll be more inclined to do it. Thanks
