First, im trying to fix a Version 7 ps2. It turns on and goes to browser. It doesnt read disks. [real games, its not modded] and when i go to browser it simply says no data. I dont think its reading the disks. I dont think its spinning. How do i fix this? Is it that little white thing??
Also, in the FAQ on this page, it says version 7 wont boot some games when modded, why is that, is there ways around it, and what games dont work? [intended chip will be magic V 3.1+]

well supposedly max payne, max payne 2 don't work and splinter cell it kicks you out after you save but, this happens only with v7 and magic3.1 combo. Haven't tried those games myself so I cant confirm. as far as your problem goes I'd guess it's the motor (since you say it doesn't spin) but if it spins and does that then most likely you need a new laser.
