Well first this is the rong forum and second you could play downloaded games if you have a modchip swap magic or hdd

Yes, first things first
You need a modification to your system to play back ups
For PS2 a modchip, or fliptop and swap magic
for Xbox a modchipo or doing a soft mod.
Until you do that there is no use explaining how to back up games as you will not be able to play them. PS2 is a pretty easy process, Xbox on the other hand is a bit more complicated.
