Is http://www.modchipstore.com/ a trustworthy site?
Or http://www.xmodd.com/premod.htm
Or http://www.teammodders.com
I just want a trustworthy place to buy from.
Suggestions?

Well i know 2 out of 3 of those.
As you may notice in my sig i am a moderator at Teammodders
They are a great bunch of guys and will do a great job. They also
stand behind their work 100%. They do it as a service to the modding community, so be patient when contacting them. It may take a few days to get a response as they also have jobs and school and stuff like that to deal with. I bought a premodded Xbox from them and have never had a problem.

Xmodd is where i bought my slim PSTwo about a year ago. It has worked great and i have had no problems with it either.
It did take them quite a while (3 weeks) from the time i paid them until i got it because they were out of the chip i wanted.

i think either site would be just fine. I know nothing about the third.

Thank you steimy! I'll go with teammodders.com then. ^_^
I can't wait for my new Matrix Infinity chip! :D
Would you suggest I go with a regular PS2? or a slimline?
I've heard that Slimline versions have a pretty short life with intensive usage, and I intend to use it a lot... but I really like the slim one. ^_^*
Also, I hear that a lot of PS2 Modded consoles need a laser fix. Do either of these sites offer it? Because niether mention it.
What would you suggest?

do you plan on buying a hard drive for it? or going to burn your games? if buying a hard drive id suggest the older model because you can put the hard drive right inside of it. if not id go with the slim. just my opinion.

btw you can also hook up and external hard drive to your slim.

Is there a certain way you need to format an external Hard Drive for the PS2 to recognize it? And how would you make the images readable, just have a direct ISO on the drive's main directory?

Ok, TeamModders appearantly 'does' give the laser fix, so I think I'll go with them. I'll never use a hard drive, but I "would" like other opinions on whether a slimline is better or worse than on original.
Are the rumors about a shorter lifespan true?

most people would tell you that the older chunky version is the
most reliable and long lasting. I would tend to agree with them.
Due to the slimlines overheating issues and the laser.
The laser problem has been fixed in th V13 and V14 consoles from what i hear. Have heard that they do not even need the laser fix, but having one would be playing it safe. the overheating issue i do not think will ever be fixed, those little things just get hot. Plain and simple. If you are one who plays games for hours and hours then you may run into loading problems after about 2hrs when you try switching games on a slimline. Unless your house is treally cool or you set up a house fan in front of the unit.
It all depends on what you want. I would figure the Slim PSTwo would be new and the chunky PS2 would be "slightly used" as they say.
If they have new chunky PS2's there, i forget as i have not looked in a while, i would buy one of those over the Slimline anyday.
And you will love a Matrix Infinity i'm sure. I have the DMS4 Pro and love it to death. No more swapping, rebuilding, ripping DVD9 to DVD5, problems with screen cut off from games in differnt regions.
i just love it.

Well, they are only offering V12 Slimlines, but he said that it comes with a laser-fix, so I think I'll just go with that. I just love the slim design. ^_^ I think I can manage a fan set-up next to the unit.
Other than overheating, are there any issues?

My slim with DMS4 Pro and Summone Laser Fix works great
I do not play for long enough to get into the overheating thing most of the time.
