Hi everybody,

I'm new here and my name is jan. but I have a terrible problem with my Harddisk (it's a maxtor 200 gig, which will fit in the ps2 and stuf but that's not the problem). I just bought it, and I installed it in my PC, and everything worked fine and stuf, and it found the HD only in Winhiip (this is ok, because I would use it only for PS2 purpose). but when I start up Winhiip, the harddisk starts bleeping (like that stupid sound that you sometimes hear of your tv) and then Winhiip stops working.

I hope soooooo you guys can help me, because I don't know what else I've gotta do.

Thnx!
Jan

your having a master/slave issue. it should be on master for use in the PS2, you most likely have it installed on an IDE cable with another drive that is your operating system and also set to Master, make the PS2 drive slave and it should fix the problem, then put it back to Master before you install it back in the PS2.

Yeah that would be a option when the harddisk would have a switch on the outside, but it hasn't, so i don't know how to set it to master. and then the bleep disapear?

they dont have switches they have jumpers and they are most often on the end with the IDE connection, but sometimes on the bottom of open designs.

otherwise just make it master on your secondary IDE cable.

and that's the reason why it's making such a bleep sound? because when i put into winhiip my normal, original HD , which is standard in the pc, it just works without anything stupid, is this right?

the beep is a mobo detected error.

WinHIIP will detect your PC HDD but it will give an error of "This Drive Does Not Have A PS2 Master Boot Record"

it doesn't give te error: "This Drive Does Not Have A PS2 Master Boot Record" , but it just starts bleeping and then the program winhiip crashes. but if i just choose my original HD which is originaly built-in to my pc, it DOES give the error: "This Drive Does Not Have A PS2 Master Boot Record" , so i don't know if that's the problem. btw, i'm dutch indeed ;)

the reason you do not get the error with your PS2 drive is because it's set as master and as soon as it's detected as a master by WinHIIP it causes the IO bus to crash because you then have two master drives on the same cable. (it's also in PS2 format so it has a PS2 master boot record) windows does not recognize the PS2 formatted drive so it never knows the drive is attached till WinHIIP accesses it.

you need to get the drive to slave or put it on the secondary IDE cable alone.

KC, Thank You Very Much!!!!! it worked like a horse:P

but there is another problem I have and hopefully you could solve, or anybody out there.

because I wanted to start MC Loader, but when I tried to push the first button, which says: "Applications in the MC" and when I push that button, nothing happens, but i must say something like: Snes station. because I followed a tutorial which said i've gotta do it this way. but unfortunately it don't do anything and sometimes it even crashes.

hopefully you or someone else could help me again, thnx!

uhm , i'll try to explain again:

1. I followed the instructions on a tutorial site for the snes-station, without use of swap-tricks or without the have of a modchip.
http://home.comcast.net/~dustinstern/sneshowto.htm

2. I put the files in the directory's which were given in the tutorial, and started the program: MC Loader.

3. I start up MC Loader and click on the first option: "Applications In The MC"

4. nothing happens... the program don't crash or something, it just doesn't react. but all other functions of the program (MC Loader) do work.

5. I'm desperate :P

thnx,

Jan

p.s. I'll open a thread on this one, so more people can help me with this problem.
