Hey, been trolling through the old threads, and while I noticed several on the Snes Station, I didn't see one for my specific problem (sorry if I missed it)

I got Snes Station booting up on my ps2 and all but when ever I try playing a game the sound will skip and it will go from decent fps to none at all.

Is this perphaps a bad version of the program, or does it just run like this?

Any help is thanked in advance^^

I've had the same problem. The music has a short stall for me... but it doesnt freeze.

I personally think its just Snes Station. You know its still in beta form really and they've already said that they dont run the roms at 100% speed yet. I dont know if that means that it'll be able to maintain the same speed throughout a play or if there is a habitual lag... but since its free, and it hasnt gotten worked on in about three years... I'd say theres nothing you can do but enjoy what you have.

So yeah... thats how its spose to be.

Just out of curiousity what game were you playing?
What CD/DVD quality and brand were you using?
What Program did you use to burn the CD/DVD?

Umm..lesse

media=Maxell DVD+R 8x/4.7gb/2 hrs
burner=external Sony dw dual drive
program=DVD Decrpyter on 1x speed, have also tried Nero 8 (I also have Magic ISO and Alchol 120% but haven't tried it on these since I'm low on dvds)

would it make a difference if I use dvd+rs? My ps2 sadly refuses to read cds now, so it's my only option.

The reason I asked was that I kept hearing everyone talk about how perfect it runs, but hell it's free and runs a million times better than my Dreamcast version.

Anyway, thanks for the info. Guess I'll just keep my eyes out for an update^^

You should get your hands on some Taiyo Yudens with DVD-R... They sell them at the http://www.supermediastore.com for really cheap. You dont want your laser to burn out do you?

You could try burning it to CD-R. It shouldn't really matter. What's the Media ID of those Maxell DVD+R's?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Try booktyping the discs, if your burner supports booktyping/bitsetting. Ritek is decent media, not great.

53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).
