Ok, so I have a v.13 Slim PS2 with a Matrix Infinity modchip.

Is it possible to play games online with this system?

I have read up on all the DNAS information, and how to enable it on my disks. I decided to run my installation disk to setup the connection on my system. I get the error "DNAS Error (-402)" and search for it, being unable to find it anywhere online. I call Sony, he gets my information, then he tells me that # says I have a "modified" ps2. First he questioned me about things like what type of controllers, cables, and such, and then stated that there is something modded inside the system.

So now Sony nows I got a modded ps2, wonderful eh?

Well, heres my question. If the installation disk noticed I had a modchip, is it possible to play online games? Like, if I deactivate the modchip, run the installation disk, then try to play an online game with the modchip running, will I come across the same error?

My friend uses the swap-disk method, and he is capable of playing games online.

when trying to go online with original discs you have to turn your mod off or it won't work (this is probably what's happening in your case). If you try to play backups online then you have to patch them with a dnas id to be able to go online.

I shut off the modchip, and the installation and setup went fine.

I understand the process to setup the DNAS, but is there any possibility of further difficulty with this error?

Also, is there any chance Sony will get pissy with me? (I played stupid on the phone, and told them I bought it on ebay, so I didn't understand what was causing the problem.)
