I have a new PS2 slim line and I keep reading these things about modding. If I get the HDD can I put all my games on there and have them work without the disk, or do I need to get some sort of Mod Chip? If I need to get a mod chip, what do you recommend for my slim line? thanks

in order to install a HDD to your slimline you will need HDConnect (available on most modchip sites) a DMS4Pro chip and HDAdvance. both require soldering inside the slimline. the HDConnect requires you to solder an ide connector (included with kit) inside the ps2. not really sure how many wires. and the DMS4Pro is the only chip available right now to run the siftware. all together (not including the HDD) your looking at around $150 US. again that is not including the HDD. but do some looking and youl prolly find a good deal. almost forgot, you dont neccesarily need HDAdvance, with the DMS$Pro you can utilize the memory card exploit to run off the HDD. hope that helps ya out.

You don't need to solder. Just get the PS2 USB Extreme w/ 120GB USB HDD - $ 155.99 from consolesource.com

Thanks JMC. Got another question though. Do you know how the HDD works do I just backup my games to it and play them without the disk or what.
