V4 ps2 with dms3 chip disc read error on backup games

hey guys my ps2 works still with my regular games like nba live 06 then my backups wont load goes to a disc read error

does anyone know what might be the problem

low quality media used for the backups or a poor quality burn.

i have been using that media for over a year and they used to work perfectly

the ink used in the low quality disks doesn't have a very long shelf life and this life is drastically reduced with any use or exposure to light/heat. I've got blanks that when new made perfect copies that lasted a few yrs, now the blanks will not successfully write, their useful life has expired.

ok i tried a backup psx game and it works still havent gotten a new dvd media ill true one soon

EDIT i tried 2 tdk dvd medias that were tyg02 or something ty2 tayo yuden and they did not work???? dre

ok more updates
i tried a ps2 backup of a cd game and it works
i tried a dvdmovie the same media of the ps2 games that wont work
and i also tried a psx backup and it works can anyone tell me why my ps2 dvd backups dont work its probably the media?? but how come my dvd movie worked same media

if you used genuine Taiyo Yuden disks and it still failed it sounds like a burner issue, is your firmware up to date?

what you mean like all my games worked at one point
i have tdk media(ty) and some cheap compusa brand ones
now all of them stopped working you guys dont think its the lens
i dont have a car right now to go buy some blanks but i will soon

ok i bought some tdk DVD+R backed up my suikoden iv then poped it in and it loaded. Took it out and played with the original disk. Now i put the backup in again then it didnt work i rebooted 5-10 times and then it worked again turned it off, to see if it would work and it stopped what is the problem

if you didn't booktype the +Rs to a -ROM then that could be the problem, what version is the console and what chip are you using??

if you don't know what booktyping is it's about a 99.99% chance that you didn't set it to -ROM and the disks are booktyped as +R and this will make them much harder to read on some lasers, the V4 is a 50/50 chance and most have a difficult time unless booktyped to -ROM. you can google booktyping or bitsetting for more information on it.

ok i backed up suikoden III with Nero and Nero has the setting under recorder option booktyping automatic and i hit ok burned it at 2.4 and it does not work now

well if we're playing the guessing game I'm gonna go with the most likely to be what your automatic booktype is and that would be +R not -ROM

if you can't take the time to at least look, i see no reason for me to waste my time trying to help you........i do hope you find someone interested in helping you but with you failing to provide any information other then you guess i doubt you will.

i typed booktyping in google and clicked the second link and it said talked about booktyping and to put it on automatic so i dont understand what this booktyping is
