PAL Movie on NTSC PS2

Hi I'm new with all of this back up stuff so be patient with me ok?:P

I just burned a Pal movie (region 2) and tried to play it on my Ps2, but every time i try it appears a message saying that TV system doesn't match or something like that. What's wrong with the thing? Is the problem with the TV? I have an american Moded PS2 with Matrix infinity version 1.54 and everyone I asked says that the chip makes the console region free Is that true?.

PD: sorry for my bad english is the first time that I write something in other languaje also.

the PS2 has it's own software for playing DVD movies, no chip can currently force a different carrier out of it so you will have to patch any DVD movie to your format (NTSC or Pal)

With a mod chip it should really have no problems playing either format. I know it will play both PAL & NTSC games no problem so i do not see why movies would be any different. Usually i just use Nero to make a copy. That you can set to have NTSC as your default video mode and it can take a movie in PAL and transcode it so the DVD you make is in NTSC.

Or get a program for your PS2 called DVD RegionX, which is a region free movie player. It may be the region code that is stopping the Ps2 from playing it. What program did you use to copy it? Do you have a program that removes region and protection like AnyDVD?

steimy pay attention, the PS2 has its own internal software program for playing DVD movies, you can not force it regardless of which chip you have. Team Toxic is working on a way to bypass this but to date nobody has. you simply can NOT play a PAL DVD movie on a NTSC console and vise versa.

the games use the processor for video conversion based on software that is contained on AND loaded from the game disk so a chip (or swap magics software when booted) can force one or the other.

I can't verify this for all movies, but I think KC is probably right. I downloaded Delierance in PAL, and the PS2 won't boot it, it simply gives me a wrong video format error. I tried adjusting the modes on my MI to region 2 and 4 for PAL and it still gave the same message. My dual format DVD player handles it fine.
