I have a feeling it just died, but heres hoping someone can help.

I have a v7 PS2 with DMS4 EZ chip. Everything was going good. Then a few months ago games would freeze and the laser sounded like it was stuck, so I took it apart and moved the laser, working again. Few days later, did same thing. This time I lubed the rail the laser sits on, when I put it back together, it worked but I noticed I was not getting a blue light. But everything worked, disk ejected and all.

I opened a PS2 up again, and noticed a small hole in the silver ribbon for the power/eject button. Just left it since it still worked.

Last night I was playing, left the PS2 on pause for a few hours, came back and the pause screen was still there, but not responsive. I shut it down then back on. First thing I noticed was just the fan came on, disc did not spin and laser wasnt moving. Now the tray wont eject at all, nothing.

I swapped the power/eject ribbon with the ribbon from an old v5 PS2 but still no blue light and it wont eject.

My next step will be to remove the mod chips I guess.

Any Idea's?? Please?? Just got the mod chip less then a yr ago. What are the chanced of finding a v7 PS2??

go to ebay enter scph 39001 ps2 also if its the dmzi solderless if u remove it can destroy the chip so be careful

Replace the ribbon. I think there is a chance that the ribbons may differ between versions. As for the blue light, don't sweat it. My blue eject LED died off ages ago after taking the thing apart a few times. Machines are put together by precise robots, they are never the same after being taken apart, but it is confusing..

It can be fixed though, take it to a local shop before anything else.
