I just recently completed my v12 ps2 slimline with a DMS4 Pro mod chip. Everything tests out 100% in terms of the connections and the initial setup. I loaded my ToxicOS cdr into my ps2 and it automatically started the flashing process. It went to the screen where it says "do not turn of the PS2" and then it loaded only 43% of the flash before it went to "attempt 2" and "attempt 3" etc. I let it go overnight and in the morn it was on attempt 1034 with no success.
Since I had read others having the same problem (cdr not reading well enough to load flash) and I read about them turning off their ps2 and reseting it using the "standby, 3x reset" method. I had no choice to reset my ps2. I did the "standby, 3x reset" and it boots to the regular PS2 swirly browser/config menu. Now when I load the ToxicOS v0.41 CDR, it says insert PS or Ps2 disk.
I know its not a problem with my DMS4 Pro connections because it was working before, the CDR just suckd.
I can boot it up while holding the "square" button and it gives me the "Modchip Disabled" so I know its working properly.
I can also hold down the "triangle" button (while its booting) to go into DEV.olution mode 1 and it looks for files on my memory card but I don't have any files so it just says "no data"
Holding any other buttons (L1, L2, X, etc) while booting, does nothing.

I have heard that you can reflash your DMS4 pro with the DEV.olution mode if the proper files are loaded onto your sony memory card (ToxicOS multiflasher) The multiflasher can be loaded in DEV.olution mode and contains almost all DMS bios's like ToxicOS v0.3, ToxicOS v0.4, ToxicOS v0.41 and ToxicBIOS for DMS Lite

thx

pressing select does nothing. What is it supposed to do? The only 2 buttons that work are square-disable mod chip and triangle-DEV.1 boot.

Of course I can pay for shipping and everything. If you have a new or used memory card that you don't mind erasing and loading the ToxicOS v0.41 on it I will pay for the $20 memory card too.

Just to clarify, I will be able to directly load the bios from the Memory card in DEV.olution 1 mode (hold triangle during boot)

Do I have to flash the ToxicBios to 1.4 before I flash the ToxicOS to v0.41?

pressing select should take you to the configuration menu.

with the button configuration you are getting you've got a part flash that is half working, before you buy anything download the DMS 0.6 flash and try to reflash with the 3x reset and if it gives you the option to 'Press X to continue' press R1 R2 L1 L2 all at the same time instead of X. unfortunately MC aren't quite that cheap where i live which is why most people prefer to send me their cards for installation.

Thats exactly the answer that I was looking for!

I was wondering what was going on and I thought that the partal flash might be the culprit. I just didn't know any of the button combos. I will try and flash it with the official DMS4 flash 0.6 and let you know what happens. I am going to get yahoo messenger so I can chat with ya. Thanks again, you are extemely helpful!

I tried all the original flashes and all of the Toxic flashes but it keeps saying "insert ps2 disk" I am going to resodder my connection points especially on the CDVD point.
If this doesn't work I am very interested in your MemoryCard Bios/OS flasher KC36330
I will keep ya updated.

also check wire C going to the reset/eject, if it isn't connected properly the chip never knows a new disk was installed and it will fail to re-authenticate it giving the RSOD on any backup disk/flash disk.

and for authentication it is wires M-W not just the CDVD data points.

the toxicOS flash you want is V0.41, that is the newest
The boot modes are listed below just so everyone is clear on them.

DMS4 Pro

Dev.olution mode

Using Dev.olution mode you can boot applications from either the memory card or hard disk drive. When booting in MC Dev.olution mode, the ELF file "mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF" is launched. This ELF file can be anything you want, such as DMS Explorer, PS2Menu, PS2OS etc. To boot in MC Dev.olution mode either hold down TRIANGLE on controller 1 while the PS2 is booting, or set default boot mode to MC Dev.olution in the configuration menu. Currently the only application which can be launched with HDD Dev.olution mode is DMS HDD Explorer. Once HDD Explorer is installed, you may boot in HDD Dev.olution mode by either holding down START on controller 1 while the PS2 is booting, or set default boot mode to HDD Dev.olution in the configuration menu.

ATAD auto-patching

When ATAD auto-patching is enabled, you can connect a non-Sony HDD to your PS2 and use it as though it was an official Sony drive. You will be able to install and use the HDD browser update (found on the HDD utility disc) on a non-Sony HDD, and you will be able to partially install some games or applications with HDD support to improve performance..

Fast boot mode

Fast boot mode allows you to skip the redundant "swirling electrons" screen and directly load your game as soon as you turn on the console, saving valuable time which would be better spent gaming. To use fast boot mode, either hold down SELECT while the PS2 is booting or set default boot mode to fast boot in the configuration menu.

Default boot mode

Using the configuration menu you can set the default boot mode to one of the following: Normal, Fast Boot, MC Dev.olution, HDD Dev.olution. If you do not manually specify a boot mode while the PS2 is booting by holding down a button on controller 1, the default boot mode will be used. For example if the default boot mode is set to MC Dev.olution, when you turn on the PS2 without holding down any buttons on the controller, your MC Dev.olution application will be loaded from the memory card. If you then wish to boot normally (i.e.: boot through standard browser) hold down CROSS on controller 1 while booting to over-ride the default boot mode.

Playstation 2 game video fix

There are 4 different modes for the PS2 video fix, as described below:

- Colour Carrier: The colour carrier of the video signal is changed to match the region of your console.
- Force PAL: Video mode forced to PAL (50hz), regardless of what video mode games try to set. Y-position fix applied.
- Force NTSC: Video mode forced to NTSC (60hz), regardless of what video mode games try to set. Y-position fix applied.
- Force PAL60: Video mode forced to PAL60, which is 60hz with PAL colour carrier. Y-position fix applied.

The y-position fix is used to shift the vertical position of the display to where it should be. For example, simply forcing PAL when a NTSC game is running will generally result in the display being far off center. The y-position fix corrects this and centers the display.

Configuration Menu

The configuration menu displays useful information about your PS2 system and DMS4 modchip. To enter the configuration menu, hold down SQUARE on controller 1 while the PS2 is booting.

Language fix for fast boot/Dev.olution mode

A problem is present with most other modchips, where if you launch a game or application from either fast boot or Dev.olution mode the language will be fixed to English. DMS4 reads the language which has been set in the PS2 browser and uses this when launching a game or application from fast boot mode or Dev.olution mode.

Disable Mode

To disable DMS4, hold down L1 on controller 1 as the PS2 is booting. You will see a message saying that the modchip has been disabled. Insert your game and reset the console - the modchip will now be disabled and will stay disabled until the PS2 is placed in standby.

Boot-time controller mapping

When the console is booting, holding down certain buttons on controller 1 will activate certain modes/features. These are listed below:

CROSS - Use standard boot (over-ride default boot mode setting)
TRIANGLE - MC Dev.olution mode
START - HDD Dev.olution mode
SELECT - Fast boot mode
SQUARE - Load configuration menu
L1 - Disables modchip when Toxic is installed , SQUARE - Disables when the original bios of dms4 hasn't been upgraded to toxic.

If the chip is installed correctly you should have no problems flashing it. I have done 3 different flashes on mine since it was installed. I do have a copy of the V0.41 flash if you want it emailed to you. just PM me and give me an email address and i will send it to you.
