V14 w/ Crystal 1.1 and Media player play DIVX off USB HDD??

I have a v14 ps2 with crystal 1.1 installed. i can install the media player for cc1.1. it plays mpeg4 (i think). if i connect a usb hdd to my ps2, will i be able to play the avi files? do i need to do something to the avi files for them to play?

the media player is PS2reality Media Player PRO

help? i need either PS2 Reality Media Player PRO or SMS Media Player to read AVI's off a external usb hdd. anyone?

ok, if you have an AVI file and Nero then you can just burn it to a CD or DVD with that. Use the "make a new movie"(DVD) or "make a video CD"(CD) option. It will transcode the file so that it will play on pretty much any stand alone player.

no. by converting it to VCD, it'll loose quality. wtf are you talking bout man?


i have a lot of movies on an external hdd, and if this works, i can watch them on my ps2. this forum isn't hardcore enough i guess. i found another forum

i have used the method on plenty of movies and have never had a problem with the output quality. VCD is only used for small files that would fit on a CD anyway. Movies are usually multi AVI files and you would use the "make a new movie" option in Nero and burn it to a DVD. I doubt very highly you will notice any difference in the picture quality from the original AVI's and the DVD you make.
Not like AVI movie files are the greatest to begin with. If you wanted them to be top notch you would have done them from an original disc and burned the VOB files.

the idea is to not use dvd's.
