Hi!
I have a modded PS2 and a backup copy of the game Tekken 5. I've tried the game on a relatively new TV and it worked fine. I live in Europe so my PS2 and the TV is PAL (i guess...). I also have a very old TV, I can play original DVDs (games, movies) on it fine with the PS2. But when i tried to play with the backup game, the picture was bouncing on the screen (like it was NTSC). I also tried the game on another TV (no problem with originals as well), the picture wasnt bouncing, but it was black and white.
What can be the problem? Is it with the TV, with the modchip or with the game? (i dont know if Tekken5 is PAL or NTSC, but i think its PAL)
Is there a way to make it work fine on the other 2 TV-s?
most likely the game is NTSC that's why all those things are happening. The old tv you're using maybe doesn't support NTSC and that's why the bouncing screen but, with the one that has black and white you should be able to fix it with a scart cable unless you want to make a backup of the game and use a NTSC to PAL patcher.
Thx for the suggestions. I saw on of this scart leads for PS2 in a shop, I think I'll give it a try.
But some things are still not clear for me. I tried a backup DVD-movie on the TVs and the same problem occured. So when I use a non-original disc, these things happen. So does it have to do something with the modchip?
And another thing: is it possible that I can play an NTSC game on my PAL PS2?
Its nothing to do with the chip, its the NTSC video signal at 60Hz on your 50Hz PAL TV.
Just make sure that the lead you buy is definately fully wired GAME has one for around £10 - £15
