I've used nero before and have never had a problem with it before. Now, I have a new computer and installed nero 6.0 and i can't burn anything. I don't know much about computers so I might just be doing something wrong. Everytime I try to burn something it says that the drive is in use by another application (but it isn't). Also, when I try to burn a VCD, it says the blank cd's capacity is only 65 MB, but it's 700 MB. I tell it to overburn, but then it comes up with the same message of the drive being used by another application. I don't think the burner's broken because I downloaded a trial version of a different burning software and I was able to burn some songs onto a disc. Somebody PLEASE HELP me!! I'm getting so frustrated! Am I doing something wrong??

I know what the Problem is , It is that Win XP"s CD Burning Application is interfereing with Nero"s ASPI Layer accessing the Drive...
What you have to do is Disable AMAPI CD Burning in windows..Go to "Start" to "Controll Pannel" to "Administrative tools" to "Computer Management" and on the Left side Highlight "Services and Applications" then on the Right side double Click "Services" then look through the List till you see "IMAPI CD Burning COM Service" then Right click it and go to "Properties" then next to "Start Up Type" choose "Disabled" then close everything and restart your PC and everything should work Fine now...Good Luck

Thank you so much. I've asked so many people and nobody knew what was wrong. I've disabled the program, but I don't want to restart my computer yet because I've been downloading something for a few hours now. I'm certain it'll be fine! THANKS Minion!!

WindowsXP is a quirky OS when it comes to built-in burning capability. Many people claim to be able to burn fine. Many others have problems. Microsoft released an update to the IMAPI (which, FYI stands for Image Mastering Applications Programming Interface); that update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320174 Furthermore, Microsoft has adressed other burning issues with WindowsXP, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129

Yes but you will have to do that every time you boot up. Unless you set it to Disabled.
