Another newbie here. from reading all the lists - it seems the upshot is s t a r view is defunct, unlikely to resurrect anytime soon. K r y p t view works, but for how long noone knows - the risk is yours. So where do you get these - is internet sites. Any recommendations? Don't want to get fleeced by some low life immitating. Anyone made a purchase? Anyhow PM me to help?

Anyone know the type of RS-232 cable needed to update these k r y p t view boxes? There are loads to choose from. Is it male/felmale - usb/male etc etc. help appreciated

this is the cable needed below if you have a comport on your pc
this is what you need also if you dont have a comport

Thanks - yes there is a comport on the laptop - but also USB too.
The comport is female - so assume a male connector. What type fits the box? difficult to see in the pic.

thats not a comport that a vga port prob blue or green connector the comport has to be male only
this below is prob what you have on your laptop

Doh.....absolutely - its a VGA port alright.
So need the usb type then as don't have a com port. Right?

you need both cables
null modem to box other end to usb adapter and the other end of the usb to the pc

I presume that the writing is on the wall though for these machines also and that they too will succumb to Nagra3 in time ?

As a full fledged member of the Totally Baffled Club... I was wondering if anyone (including The Oracle Fergus...)could answer my simple questions.
I have a Starview Box, non clone, think it's The B O X version - is this knackered now (for the love of Jeebus, Living TV...), or is there a way of getting it back up and running?
There's no USB connection, so is there firmware that if i re-flash it, will this get it off it's knees...?
Has Nagravision 3 put the kybosh on receiving the sports/movie channels?
Will I need a new box to receive the sports channels, I don't want to miss the rugby this summer...
I hope i've not posted anything contentious, but if so, let me know and i'll edit. If anyone out there can help, but can't post to the forum, pls PM me.

At the present time there are no fixes for any of the boxes apart from the Krypt and i would say if Sv ever do get it together and eurovox and digi they will prop only fix the later released boxes
