I haven't used any all in one software - rather do it myself.

You can either do the above suggestion - rip the DVD to the Hard Drive with De-Crypter (Free Software) and then use DVD Shrink (Free Software) or DVD2One to compress the full DVD or just back up the movie.

Or you can use Shrink to rip and compress the film - some good guides on here on how to do it.

Follow those, any issues - just ask.

I don't know what I am doing.

It's far from the best.

You can use a free tool called DVD43 to bypass the encryption so DVDCopy 2 can do it's thing :)

DVD43:

http://dvd43.com/

You'll also need to install patin couffin for DVD43 to run:

Hey for someone who doesnt know what there doing right off the bat I would recomend you using dvdshrink it is so easy to use and its free. All ya do is open it up throw in the dvd point shirnk to dvd , let it scan , then set compression. NOTE if compression isnt at leat i say 85% you need to reauthor it then just backup main movie without all the extras doing this usually allows the movie to be almost at 100%. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Ok I got the DVD Decrypter and all it did was to put the files to my pc and I can see the dvd movie from my pc (with out the dvd) but I try to burn the files to a dvd using InterVideo DVDCopy 2 and it did the whole proces but the dvd would not play on the dvd player and when i put it on my pc it shows no files in it at all. any ideas? and so far all of your advice has helped me a lot. except the DVD43 thing I see the green happy face on the windows bar and then i run the InterVideo DVDCopy 2 and it will not do anything. it doesnt say anything about the dvd been protected but it seems like it doesn't recongnice the dvd at all because it doesnt let me copy or nothing!
Thanks for your time!

@cnmsales,

No posting e-mails ... per forum rules :)

@sholo20,

1) When using Intervideo DVDCopy 2, does the burned disc play in your pc? And what brand of media are you using?

2) With XCopy (I think you have Platinum), what is problem? What version are you using?

3) I would also try DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

Now, I've read your posts and your not very specific. Just saying you've got problems doesn't help us. In XCopy can you post an error log? (local disk -> program files -> 321studios folder -> platinum -> logs). And with Intervideo what are your steps. According to the site it's 3 easy steps. Select the source, select the destination, choose output format.

This will only work when backing up dvd-5's.

When using Shrink, you'll need a program to burn ... Shrink doesn't burn on it's own. You can use Shrink to create an ISO file and burn with DVD Decrypter or you can use Shrink to create a video_ts file and burn with a program like Nero.

No it doesnt play it just say that the DVD is protected and when I install the DVD43 (as sugested by Nephilim) it doesnt have the protection but it doesnt allow me to do anything either!
2) With XCopy (I think you have Platinum), what is problem? What version are you using?
well with the x copy (I do have platinum) it does everything normal but it just doesnt play anywhere!

and am already using the decripter thing and the shrink so am doing my buck ups now
thanks very helpful!

sholo20,

Glad your successful with Shrink and Decrypter. If you still want to get the other programs to work, just ask :) ... after all you've already paid for them.
