Newbie needs help with Record Now.

I am really frustrated with Record Now and trying to burn Dvd's.Can anyone walk me through this process as this is the first time i have tried this.I can burn Cd's just not Dvd's.I have tried it using both:make an exact copy and make a data disc.It seems like the logical one would be the make a data disc prompt.But it won't let me get past the "Add a disc" screen.Every time i add a dvd,whether it be a blank or a movie it ejects it as though it is not reading it.Please help!!!
