using avi splitter with windows xp

i have a freeware program called avi splitter about 32kb in size works great with windows 98

however with windows xp it spilts the first part fine but when it comes to the second part it crashes

i tried using vdub but its to complicated trying to do it on my own.
my question is this does anybody have a avi splitter for windows xp or explain how to do it with vdub with the correct settings?
