ok, i have done my fair share of research on this matter and NONE of the posts that i have found have had any definitive answers, just pure speculation.

i have a true external LiteOn burner. external over usb2 does not have DMA (fact). external using dvd decrypter can not use ASPI, it has to use SPTI. i have updated firmware. i have updated ASPI (as if it matters in this case) and confirmed via Nero InfoTool and Adaptec's aspichk. i have a freshly formatted system with bare necessities running. yes it is the enhanced usb in device mgr, thus confirming usb2. i have my page file set at 4000mb min/max. i have tried burning media at 4x, 2.4x - with same results.......

the result being that i get a semaphore timeout I/O error when trying to burn dvd in decrypter. i am now using dvd-rw until i resolve this matter, as rw's can continue on after the semaphore timeout - whereas a dvd+r is a coaster once that initial semaphore timeout occurs. i know more people than just me are having this problem. i also know that the LiteOn 411SX is capable of working, mine just isn't for some reason. any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
