I have just purchased a LG DVD Recorder RH4820W with 80gig HDD. I only use it for taping TV shows and converting video tapes. By default it formats all DVD's [uses DVD-RW's] as VR mode. I have learnt to change this to video mode so i can edit on my pc using DVDShrink. However is there any cheap software out there that will enable me to read and edit VR mode disks on my Windows XP pc? Something that would allow me to convert to normal dvd on pc for editing would be great. I suspect a lot of compatibility problems people are having with dvd recorders is to do with them now using VR mode. BTW I notice some people try to copy commercial dvd's on dvd recorders. Bad idea. Use DVD Shrink on pc and no troubles with any. I have well over 2500 dvd's so i am fairly experienced with this. DVD Shrink will copy any commercial dvd ...no worries. I don't compress many dvd's but use DVD Shrink to put large movies on 2 disks. I use Princo and Verbatim blanks. These play on all my players [10]except 1 old one.
