Hey, I have a Magic 3.1 and I'm having problems burning PS2 backups. So far I've tried using Alcohol 120% and DVD Decrypter, but no luck. I've extracted and burned the ISO file, but when my PS2 tries to read the disc, it fails.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Note: I'm using a BenQ DVD writer and Memorex DVD-R's.

I'm stumped. Can anybody help? I've tried using Nero, DVD Decrypter, Alcohol 120% and nothing!

Have you tried different types of media? I bought a 50 pack of generic blank dvd-r's off of ebay and I'm lucky to get a copy to work on that media. You should probably go out and buy a couple good quality dvd-rw's to mess around with until you figure this thing out. Have you ever had a backup play on your ps2? If so, what are you doing differently now???

I've had CD-R backups play on my PS2, but I've never successfully had a DVD-R backup play. So far I've tried 2 different media brands (Ridata and Memorex).

What happens when you try to boot a DVD-R Backup?

Nothing really. I hear some noise coming from my PS2 and nothing happens once it reaches the Browser/Configuration screen. It just stays there, no disc read errors, no red screen, nothing.

Try putting the bacup into your ps2 disc tray. Hit the eject button to withdraw the tray into the ps2. Turn the power off on the back of your ps2 and turn it back on again. Gently tap the reset button to start up ps2. See if this works.

Nope, it doesn't work either. The system boots up as usual and then nothing happens after I see the Browser/System Configuration screen. It just sits still and does nothing. I tried going into Browser and "Reading disc..." is displayed across the bottom of the screen, but, again, nothing happens besides that.

I don't know what else to say. I also have a magic chip and have not had the problems that you are describing. Could it be the method in which you are creating the iso file?

Yeah, I don't know what I could be doing wrong. Do you have AIM or MSN by any chance? If so, would you mind if I asked you a couple of questions?

I haven't had any luck burning at 1x, 2x or 4x. :(

I didn't actually install my mod-chip myself, so I'm not familiar with the installation in any way. My buddy (who helped install my mod chip) actually tried PS2 backups (DVD-R's) in my PS2 and it worked at one time. However, I haven't had any luck. Maybe I'll take a look at the connections.

Would you happen to have any installation instructions that I could refer to?
