Ok, I just want someone with knowledge of how to create a great divx / ac3 video from an mpeg-2 file to right what programs they use and what properties and procedure they use to make it the best quality and still great compression (about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 700 mb). I really hope someone replies to this forum. For whoever does I seriously want to thank you in andvance for being the only nice person on the whole internet!

did you got flamed for being a newbie. :)

encoding a good video needs knowledge of how to handle it. when you know what you're doing, getting transparency is not just putting it into 2cds or more

here i'll direct you to some guides and all the basics stuff about video, what you need to know.

this site revolves around anime, but you can apply it on to any type of video.

look at the guides. and when you finish with that hit the forum. i mean look around the forum.

getting the latest audio news/encoder.
i would suggest use vorbis, unless its 5.1. AAC handles 5.1 too.

no offense to anyone, but i think the guide section is a bit old and too basic. but its good for someone to get started immediately. which is propably the main target.

I'm new as well. I'm making a recommendation.

I have had rough experiences getting DivX to encode clearly with small file output sizes. I used various tactics from various guides and continued to get "just ok" quality from the DivX Pro encoder.

I then employed the exact same tactics in VirtualDubMod using the 3ivx codec. I ended up with what appears to be DVD quality video.

After, I use HeadAC3he for audio conversions and Nandub for implementing the audio into the video, which can be found in guides.

In conclusion,

3ivx codec is amazing.

Best of luck to ya, hope this helps some.

Jeremy
