i'm trying to author a dvd backup in scenerist. i've got my mpeg-- ripped to .vob with dvdDecrypter, mapped with dvd2avi, then encoded in TMPGEnc. i've got windvd5 installed, so i should have a decent mpeg decoder on my system.

scenerist, however, disagrees. it will not import my mpeg. the general box says "no MPEG decoder is present or the driver is not installed. hardware decoding of video will not work" , then "0 file(s) accepted, 1 file(s) rejected" is added wwhen i try to drag my file into the Title 1 folder. images and the like work fine... but mpegs are a no-go.

tried reinstalling scenerist- nothing but hardware options listed in the 'pick your decoder' box in the install wizard.

after 2 full days of finding installing other decoders, installing other stuff and reinstalling everything related and combing forums and guides and much swearing and fist shaking... i have successfully gone nowhere.

can anyone out there please offer some solutions? i'm really out of ideas on this one.
