I have written elsewhere that I have been very satisfied with Datasafe media. I have been using their discs for some months with very few problems.

So I was pleased to read of their latest product "Datasafe Classic", which is based on a dye first introduced in June / July this year. Great thought I that's what I've been using, I'll have another 50 please.

They arrived earlier this week.

To date I have burned 2 discs. I use Nero 5.5.9.0. No problem burning (X1 I'm in no rush).

Both discs play fine in my Pioneer 444 settop box, BUT the other won't play in my PS2, (disc not recognised) neither will it play in my sons settop box (same problem) I don't know the model.

I have 2 DVD drives on my PC. This disc plays intermittent on the RICOH drive, while it plays OK on the Pioneer A104 (which burnt the disc). So, this one disc is very dodgy......

This is a bit of a blow, as I have always been a very keen fan of Datasafe to date, but this experience has knocked my confidence a bit.

Has anybody else had similar problems ?

I was on a site the other day, and they said the Datawrite Classic played OK on a PS2. Well, if you read my thread above I would not agree, so, I thought, perhaps it's me, and not the media.

Up to now, I create a Vob set, and use Nero 5.5.9.0 to burn.

The discs (Old Datasafe version and Lynx Brand) work in my PC, PS2 and Pioneer 444. The new Datawrite Classic would not play in the PS2.

So what I did was, after creating the VOB set in the normal way, I then created an Image using Imgtool. Takes about 10 minutes.

Then using Ulead DVD Factory burned the Image.

Result ?

The discs play fine in the PS2 (and other devices).

I was plesantly surpised to say the least.

Anybody else tried this little trick ??
