It seems this brand is relatively new to the US market so after having read a few comments on them and confirming that they're made in Japan I bought a spindle of 25 4X DVD-R for $11 from newegg.
The discs look good, the edges are clean and the dye, which is just a shade lighter than G04, is evenly spread.
My first burn was done in my Plextor PX-708A at 4X. Immediately after the burn the disc was tested in my PC as well as my Sony standalone and they played very well all the way to the end of the film.
I then ran surface scans with both Nero CD/DVD Speed and DVD Info Pro, both of which turned up zero errors.
My next test will be with a heavily compressed film to see how they handle that.
The media code is as follows:

Initial results have been good. After my first post I turned out a disc with light compression that plays well with no scan errors and just now finished successfully testing one that was heavily compressed at around 50% using Shrink 3.2, Deep Analysis and the default Sharp setting. The bastard took about 2 hours start to finish but the results are extremely nice. Again no errors reported by CD/DVD Speed or DVD Info Pro and playback is flawless :)
I'm not much for testing different media but these caught my fancy for some reason.

I just tried one of them in a very picky player and got some pixellation. I burned the Unifino's using the same tried and true methods/software/speed that I normally use with my RiDATAs so there's no excuse except the media sucks :)

Well Unifino is the worst Made in Japan brand available. Most power users over here in Japan dont buy em. Also its a very recorder picky media. As far as i know only pioneer burners deliver acceptable (but still not good enough) burns.
