Well in my exstensive research on clockloop {my sisters friends baby kept unplugging my damn XBOX} I have a found a few methods that may help you out, and eliminate the up to 8 hour cycle.

--Dont wait to plug your box back in, yes it is a simple step but can make the rest of the steps obsolete.

--Open the DVD tray about 5 minutes into the loop. This does sound stupid but I have had my XBOX unplugged for 7 days (thanks charley) and all I did was open my DVD tray and it unlooped.

--If opening your DVD tray fails to eliminate the loop but a DVD in, a DVD movie that is, this has always worked for me in cutting the loop time by 3/4.

The DVD tray opening trick has only been tested and verified on my XBOX which is a little under 2 years old. Thd DVD trick however has been verified on almost every generation box. I am running FF evox and this also worked on Slayers Evox.
