To be honest i have never really noticed any quality loss ripping to the hard drive. If there is then obviously i have not got a quality set of eyes.

If you are doing a 1 to 1 copy, shouldn't be any quality loss. It will only start to suffer when compression is applied. The quality of the blank media may have some effect on it.
