I cannot, for the life of me, connect to WinMX, or any other file sharing service. I've tried iMesh, Kazaa, Morpheus, Limewire. I prefer WinMX, so I have stuck with it, trying to figure out how to configure it. I have Windows XP and have McAfee firewall and the firewall that comes with Windows. I do have the current version of WinMX. I have tried to configure both to allow the ports to be open for WinMX to use. I've even tried just turning off my firewall completely. I've spent hours just looking on-line, searching for an answer that I didn't think of before. I found this one page on Microsoft on how to actually add specific ports to be accessed. I did that, and I still cannot connect to WinMX. ANY help from anyone would be great appreciated! Thank you so so much!
I still cannot connect to WinMX. I tried to change the TCP/UDP ports, just to see if others would work, and it still just blinks yellow on connection. I know I am just missing something small to get this thing connected, I just don't see it. I can't get any other p2p to work, either. Does anyone have ANY suggestions as to what's going on? I don't use a router. I have DSL and WindowsXP. Both WindowsXP firewall and McAfee have been disabled when trying to connect to WinMX, just to make sure. Plus, I've configured both of them to allow access to the ports WinMX uses. What the heck am I not seeing?
I'm in the same boat. I've used Winmx for years and now all of the sudden I can't connect, well I connected once this evening, but when I tried to close it and open it.. connecting.. connecting.. for hours.. never will connect

I'm wondering if, when they upgraded WinMX to v3.53 or whatever.... I'm wondering if something get screwed up on the way. I've been researching my problem with WinMX for a few weeks now, and I have noticed that other people have similar problems. I don't know. It just might be the way my internet service is configured, also. I am going to be switching over to Road Runner, hopefully soon. So I hope to have better news.
