No you cannot play online using HD Loader. Although you might be able to patch the original disc ID into the backup the DNAS process will still fail due to the hard drive being used and you will not be able to proceed even with a correct disc ID.

YOU CAN NOT PLAY ONLINE WITH HD LOADER

it DISABLES the network adpater, so it wont evcenb let you CONNECT, so it wont even get to the dnas check

also, i have foudn that the patch thing rarely works, if at all

i havent got a single game to work yet, even after following all the insturctions

i boot my dvd-r and it connects, but then wont get past dna's

i get the same error whether i patch the disc or not

If it's true that HD Loader or HD Advance disable the network function then it wouldn't matter what you patch, it would be like trying to go online without the network adapter hooked up.

I thought you could play non-DNAS (older) games off the hard drive? Pumpkin Stew has a list of titles without DNAS check that he says can be played off the hard drive online.

I have ATV 2, might install it and try it out.

I doubt we will see another commercial venture though. Homebrew is a major possibility on PS2 though.

yeah, the first HDLOADER retail version has already been flammed by sony, so im guessing that there wont be many if any more retail releases

to be honest, now that there is less chance of being able to SELL another version of this product, i very much doubt that we will see any other versions

if a company coudl SELL it, it would give them a much larger incentive to actually make the new version

After HDAdvance is killed, HDLoader might leak source. Could happen, more than likely not.

which version pof hd loader are you using

as far as i know, it disbales the network adapter

which is why whebnever i try to go online with a game from the hdd, it will not even get to teh dnas test, becaus eit wont even CONNECT to the network at all

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

I TAKE IT BACK

CRAP

i jsut tried both tony hawks and twisted metal blakc online

THEY BOTH PLAY ONLINE FINE FROM THE HD LOADER

i use PAL games, PAL console and the mem card exploit hd loader

HOLY COW

howcoem the others dont work then..........even if you patch them

i could havwe sworn that BOTH these games definitely DID NOT WORK BEFORE

why are they working for me now?

holy crapola

sorry for saying it defintiely doesnt work for ANY games

OH MY GOD I ENVER KNEW THIS

WOO YEAH!

-x-x-x-

so, now comes the interesting question......

if i backup my games, patch them, then put them on the hdd with hdhandiness or similar.......will that work?

i dotn think this can be an ENTIRELY DNAS issue

sicne TWISTED METAL BLACK ONLINE DOES HAVE A SORT OF DNAS CHECK

when you play it, it does QUICKLY say "checking dnas data"

but it doesnt do the usual authentication thing liek in all the otehr games

but it does definitely tell me that it is checking the dnas data

so hoemcoem other games wont work?

well thats SO wierd

TM:BO WORKS PERFECTLY ONLINE FROM THE HDD
THPS4 WORKS PERFECTLY ONLINE FROM THE HDD

but any other of my games wont work for shit

i patched XIII, Medal Of Honour: Rising Sun, and Need For Speed Underground

and NONE of them worked

i see no reason why they wouldn't if the others do

i dont understand this at all now

i mean, if it was because the network adapter was disbaled by hd loader, at least that would make sense

but that is CLEARLY NOW NOT THE REASON since i have got 2 games to work perfectly

with the other 3 games, it either says "hardware not connected", which it wuite clearly is, or like with XIII, it says "connecting" and jsut stays there saying "connecting" FOREVER, and everythign is basically frozen (although the zzz's are still moving at the top of the screen, so its technically not frozen, but you cant get back or forwards from that point, so....)

im BAFFLED

Yeah I dont know away around it but I'd like to find one. Whenever I try and get online with Burnout3 it just freezes on the connecting screen. I am using a PAL PS2 with the memcard exploit. I have the same results when I use the HDLoader CD. I bought the cd but it doesn't always load so I did the exploit as well.

okay, i jsut did soem googling

and from waht i can work out

the reason that soem games DONT work with hdloader is due to the way that HDLOADER FORMATS the drive

ANY GAME wiht DNAS checks will not let you connect online because when it boots the game it must do soem check THEN and recognise that a NON SONY hard drive is being used, and it therefore disables the network adapter

so, if soemone has the OFFICIAL SONY HDD they could test this theory for me

basically what you'd need to do is make an image of the online game that has DNAS checking

PATCH the image wiht the patchign tool to make sure the image has a CORRECT DISC ID from the ORIGINAL GAME

then, load that image into the ps2 hdd via the PC, using soemthign liek hd handiness,

THEN.........huff.........put the hdd BACK into the ps2, load up hdloader, boot the game, and see if it lets you go online then

another test woudl be to do all that

except without laoding hd laoder

if its an official drive, the gfame shopudl appear in the browser correct?

so you could alspom try booting the patched game fromt here

iw oudl be very interested to know if thios works on an offical sony drive

if iot does then we jsut need to wait for someone to make a 3rd party drive recognisabel by the ps2 as an official drive

i guess it must be SOEMTHIGN to do with the way it is formatted

well, thats my research for the night

bye for now

Sony said they might start searching for the HDLoader files, and then banning.

Seems pretty stupid if sony did that. HDLoader isn't actually breaking the law. Your entitled to back your games up to save damage to them.

Plus the fact that Sony is going to release a HDD of there own. They just want to own the market which is why they are jerks.
