This is happening on all my recordings. I suck in a TV signal and it's saved in Mpeg format.

I recode them using Nero6, NVE and just tried Ulead MovieMaker.

The audio seem to stay with the video to start but gradually either gets ahead or behind as the video plays.

I took special care with Movie maker to treat the audio as Non-DVD compliant and recode it specifically. Took longer but I had hoped it would work. Nope.

Using the Cinepak codec , so any thoughts ??

Try using TMPG DVD author. This is AFTER you have encoded the mpeg to a DVD compliant MPEG-2.

http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html

If you need to do so, use TMPG plus (or TMPG encode which is free but a little less user friendly)

PLUS :http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tp.html
FREE :http://www.tmpgenc.net

If you dont wish to use the programs, try encoding the video and audio independently. This way you can see the length of the audio and video streams to make sure they are EXACTLY the same length. This is almost ALWAYS the cause of audio that falls out of synch.

If you need to know how, let me know, or use the Search function and type in "Audio out of sync" for a guide.

Yep you are right,

"If you need to do so, use TMPG plus (or TMPG encode which is free but a little less user friendly) "

Had real tough time trying to understand this one.

So, you are saying that the mpeg file created by the Tuner card is not DVD compliant ? How So ? Windows says it an mpeg, Whats missing ?

Once the file is recoded to Dvd compliant , can't it be written to a DVD as an mpeg and played on the 642 ?
