I backed up a dvd to my harddrive using dvd decrypter. I used file mode. Is it possible to play the video from my hard drive? If so how do I do this?

Sure!

Try this free player:

http://www.cliprex.com/

If it doesn't work you'll probably need something like PowerDVD or WinDVD which cost $$.

Would you be so kind as to post back and let me know if the free player worked? I'm interested to know if the free one works because I thought the only apps that had the right codecs cost $$. I already have the codecs so testing it on my machine is pointless :)

Media Player Classic is also a free DVD player and will play almost any other video and audio type as well.

MPC has, for instance, a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QT and/or Real player), and lots more.
Windows XP/2000 version.
