HDTV Progressive Scan Problems

Hi,
I just bought a Sony DVP-CX985V 400 disc changer with progressive scan, however when I hooked it up to my Samsung TSL2793HF HDTV CRT Television, the Interlace setting works great, however when I change the settings to progressive scan, the screen turns red and splits in half. However I know my TV supports progressive scan? Can I change my TY settings somehow? Any help is greatly appreciated.
