Since I don't have a DVD burner but want to back up my japanese copy of WE8, I created a dvdrip and tried to play it using the cogswap loader. This is what I did.

1. Boot cogswap with my PSX trigger disc.
2. Swap in a PS2 CD game
3. Use slide card to put in the dvdrip.
4. Press x. The disc keeps spinning but shows a black screen.

I heard that the PS2 CD game has to have a TOC larger than that of the dvdrip (which turns out to be ~690MB). Is that the reason why it failed? Also, is step 2 really necessary as a PSX and PS2 CD games are both CDs?

If I put in a hard drive and use the hd loader exploit on the mem card, would it work that way?

I heard about Breaker Pro, but would it work?

I just want to find a way that I can play the backup instead of the original. I don't want to get a DVD burner yet as I want to wait for them to be more mature with the different types of DVDs and dual layers...etc. Thanks in advance.

the swap with a ps2 disc is necessary, just as you can't use a psx cheat disc to load a ps2 game and vice versa, you can't use a psx game to load a ps2 game.

and if your game is 690 MB then you will need breaker pro or sm cd

Isn't the sm cd only 630mb? I saw in another thread that the breaker pro is a 99min cd, so how much mb is that? Also, is it possible to make a cdloader fix myself? Is breaker pro reliable? What is the cheapest and most reliable place to get them? Thanks.

Is breaker pro a blue bottom ps2 cd? If so, my ps2 has trouble reading them...

here is what i did:
i boot from tekken2(623M), so i have to rebuilt kf_we8 not to have 623, i used SHIN-WE8J no mod rip tool(it resizes opening movie) and modified it to reach 623M, next i've built my we8.iso with cdgenps2(first data_.afs,next iop dir, the rest and at the end we8_op.pss-like in kf_rip). rebuilb to cue/bin with cdmage.
well next i had to use cdloader(cog swap didn't run we8_rip) so i made my cogswap with cdloader to choose via keylauncher.
and it works(btw it also works with full kf_we8 but when openinng movie reach the point it freezes/stop working)here links to files to make your keylaucher install cd(with cogswap and cdloader) http://yot.neostrada.pl/fls/kl.zip
(and remember to put your title.db, a d also if your ps2 is not PAL to edit kl.dat (BEDATA to BADATA (US)or BIDATA (JPN))
and here is mixed and modified by me kf_rip with shin

Thanks yot. I was able to play it on hard drive and it loads faster. I don't have to swap discs anymore, which is great.
