OK
Firstly there is more that one version of Kazaa out there - Kazaa has Spyware attached and you have to go through the problem of gaining accredition at higher levels to Supreme Being where the more you share the higher you become and the more bandwidth Kazaa will let you download. All I can say is Pants !
Kazaa Lite that I have and I am not sure if there are other versions of Kazaa Lite has no Spyware and no throtling down of the bandwith or searches.
P2P - (Peer 2 Peer) basically means everyone on the Kazaa Network is a node in it. So their PC stores file information and forwards requests - bit like the internet itself.
Kazaa has 2 distinct functions:
Search: The search basically goes round looking for the files and stops searching after a minute. The search is not only everyone on line but Super Nodes where a database of what files Users have is stored.
You then make your choice. The Downloads Section then tries to find PCs with that file on them. It might be that 10 people have the file and you download bits from each person and your PC puts them back to gether again - this is the concept used in the Internet Protocol TCP - Packets (or bits of information sent in random order and put back together in the right order at the other end).
So the problem is finding a PC or a number that have your file, then they have to be on-line - with bandwidth - allowing people to upload and that the upload queue is not full. Some files you ask to download never arrive and you give up !
Auto Search More - mentioned above - keeps telling Kazaa to go off and find more files with the search criteria and not to stop looking after 30 seconds.
Speed Up tells Kazza to go and find more people with the same file so you can download it from more loactions and hence speed up the download.
I hope that is clear as mud.
