Any n00b guides for BitTorrent?

I am wanting to try BitTorrent out, but I have had absolutely NO experience with it and have absolutely no idea what to do or even how it works. I tried searching the forums but cant find anything useful.

I know tons of you guys use it so any help would be great! Thanks in advance

you will be disappointed with bittorrent unless your able to work out all the technical stuff. You will only get speeds of like 1k and 2k and stuff. so you have tp learn to forward ports for your firewall. thats pretty tough to do. and its different for each router, well each brand of router.
