have you dropped your ps2 at any time, or missused a slide card or knife for disc swapping?, because it sounds like part of the track that the white pin that you would grip with a slide card, has broken, the pin is probly getting stuckat that point and the motor is forcing it past, that is why you here a noise.
the other possibility is the cogs could be missaligned, either way you will have to open your ps2 and remove the draw to check it out

Im not sure if this is a serious problem? Are you sure its a banging noise, the tray will make some noise when you press eject, this is normal. I guess you could open ur ps2 and see if anything is wrong with the cog/pin that ejects the tray.

Does the tray eject ok, it doesnt slow down or anything? I still think the noise your hearing is normal.. have you opened your ps2 to check if the cog is aligned properly?

That's the problem, i dunno if the clogs are stuck or something, but the disc tray does pop up, but it just makes this banging noise, so i was wondering if that was normal.

This noise is normal. When you press eject the pin slides across the tray and retracts the laser, thats the noise your hearing.
You could try checking on a friends PS2 if you still think its a problem.
